The RCX-S is a traditional 6-channel profiler which can be used take temperature profiles. It houses the memory unit which stores all the temperature data, as well as reading taken from the additional modules.
Malcom has developed a set of tools for the monitoring of the reflow process. The RCX Series is a modular system for measuring different functions of the reflow oven. It uses the RCM-S Profiler as the base, or brains, of the system. The strength of the RCX system is the flexibility of being able to add on additional sensors to measure things, such as oxygen density, air velocity, rail/conveyor vibration, and even the option to view what is happening onboard the PCB via a camera system. The system is comprised of a number of helpful tools for troubleshooting and verifying the functionality of the reflow oven and PCB reflow process.
The system can be configured to include just the modules needed. Here is a overview of the different modules:

The RCX-T adds an additional 6-channels for a total of 12 temperature profiling channels.
Malcom RCX-O Oxygen Monitor
The RCX-O is an oxygen concentration sensor for use with reflow ovens running nitrogen. The sensor will measure the oxygen levels at the PCB throughout the whole reflow oven.

Malcom RCX-W Velocity Monitor
The RCX-W is a velocity sensor that will measure the airflow above a certain point on the PCB. Check for inconsistencies with the blower fans and measure blower “hot spots”.

Malcom RCX-V Sensor
The RCX-V is a sensor that can be placed on the PCB to measure the vibration. Verify the oven’s rails/conveyor to ensure the PCB isn’t being exposed to excessive vibration.
Malcom RCX-c Reflow Camera
The RCX-C is an onboard camera system that can track and record a video image from the PCB. The camera and lighting source are housed in a heat-resistant case, allowing you to actually see the reflow process.

The strength of this modular system is that you can track and measure the different functions of the oven & process at board-level, throughout the entire oven. The profiler is used in conjunction with the sensor units to track the progress of the sensors, so you can correlate the data to the location within the reflow oven.
